Changing MFA Phone Number
If you have changed your phone number and had your existing phone number setup to receive calls to authenticate your Wintec account you will have to update that number. 1. Go to https://mfa.wintec.ac.nz from a Wintec computer or laptop. 2. Sign-in with your Wintec username and password. 3. You will be prompted to approve a Multi-Factor sign-in request from your Authenticator mobile app. 4. You will arrive at the following web page; 5. You can then update your new phone number and then receive a robo-call to verify it is working.

Using Multi-Factor Authentication
When you are away from the office and you wish to access a Wintec service such the Digital Workplace, Microsoft Teams, your OneDrive account and/or your Wintec Mailbox, you will be prompted to approve the sign in request using a mobile device. Ensure your PC or laptop is connected to the internet Using a web browser go to a Wintec site e.g. https://staff.wintec.ac.nz Log in using your Wintec credentials, the following window will appear On the mobile device you downloaded Authenticator on, you will receive a notification to approve the sign in request If you … Then tap … Did not authorise this sign-in request Deny Authorised this sign-in request Approve NOTE: If this notification does not appear, you may need to open Authenticator on your mobile device and tap Refresh. The web page will continue to load as normal

Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Find out why we are using MFA at Wintec. You will need Your mobile phone. Your computer. Steps On your computer go to https://mfa.wintec.ac.nz Follow the prompts that step you through the process. The process requires you to do things on your computer and your mobile, the prompts provided step you through the process. If you need any assistance please log a request. Expected steps to set up MFA On your computer On your mobile device On your computer Go to https://mfa.wintec.ac.nz. Sign-in to your Wintec account using your email address and password. Click Next. Login with your Wintec username and password. Keep your account secure screen loads, switch to your mobile device. On your mobile device Go to the Google Play/Apple Store, download the Microsoft Authenticator application. Once downloaded, Open the Mobile Authenticator application. If asked to allow App to use camera, allow this so that you can Scan a QR code shortly. Follow the prompts to set up an Work account. Otherwise click the + or ... (top right hand corner) to add an account. On your computer Click Next. Click Next, again and a QR code will appear. On your mobile device Scan the QR code with your phone. If you can not scan, click Can't scan image? and follow the prompts to enter code and URL. Click Approve. On your computer Click Next. Click Done. Now we need to setup an alternate authentication method: On the Phone screen, change the region prefix and enter in your phone number. Choose Call me (we don’t allow the text option at Wintec) Click Next. On your phone Answer your phone if you selected Call me and follow the prompts. OR Read the text code if you selected Text me a code. On your computer If Text me a code, enter the code that was text to your mobile. If Call me, continue. Click Next. Click Done. All done, you re now set up with Multi-Factor Authentication. Changing Authenticator Device
If you have purchased a new mobile phone but kept the existing number then you must add your new device to the Authenticator portal. 1. Go to https://mfa.wintec.ac.nz on a Wintec desktop or laptop. 2. Sign-in with your Wintec email address and password. 3. You will then need to approve the sign-in using Multi-Factor Authentication. IF you are still in possession of your existing device then approve it from the mobile application. If you are not in possession of the existing device you must select the option to ' Sign in another way ' 4. Select the Call option as pictured below; 5. You will receive a robo-call, follow the instructions to Authenticate. 6. You will land on the following web-page, you now want to delete the Microsoft Authenticator that was associated with your old device. 7. Once the device has been deleted, please go to the following link to setup your new device with the Authenticator App; Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
